By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Sun, 05 May 2013
CHICAGO -- Just a season ago, the Memphis Grizzlies watched as the Los Angeles Clippers tore their hearts by winning Game 7 of a contentious series at the FedEx Forum in downtown Memphis.
This year, the Grizzlies got sweet revenge.
Zach Randolph and Mike Conley scored 23 points each and the Grizzlies pounded the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 6, 118-105, to close out their best-of-seven series 4-2. Marc Gasol had a quiet 10 points and seven rebounds but defensive guard Tony Allen picked up the slack with 19 while Jerryd Bayless added 18 points, including a back-breaking 3 that pushed Memphis ahead 109-99 in the final 3:50.
"It's time to enjoy tonight and be ready tomorrow. it's a quick turnaround, so we can enjoy tonight," Gasol told NBA. com. The fifth seeded Grizzlies penciled a Round 2 date will the number one seeded Oklahoma City Thunder, who advanced to the second round by disposing the Houston Rockets in six games.
Matt Barnes connected six of seven threes to lead the Clippers with 30 while Chris Paul tallied 28 points and eight assists on 11 for 16 shooting. Caron Butler ended up with 14 but no other Clipper scored in double figures. Suffering from a high ankle sprain, power forward Blake Griffin finished with nine points in 13 minutes. (Homer D. Sayson)
