DSAP SETS FUN RUN ON APRIL 27-28 By Eddie Alinea PhilBoxing.com Tue, 12 Mar 2013 MANILA (PNA) -- The Drugstores Association of the Philippines, in celebration of its 30th Anniversary, has scheduled a pair of activities capped by a nationwide medical mission for the benefit of the country?s senior citizens. The medical mission, aptly called the ?DSAP Healing the Nation? project, will be held nationwide April 27-28 among DSAP?s 53 charters from Aparri in Northern Luzon to Tawi-Tawi in far away Southern Mindanao, according association president Herlinda Aquino. Speaking at the SCOOP Sa Kamayan session last Friday, Ms. Aquino said the two-day medical mission will be the highlight of the one-week celebration starting on April 21 with a four-part fun run starting and ending in front of the Rajah Sulaiman Monument at the Roxas Boulevard strip. As of Friday, some 2,000 runners, according to Ms. Aquino, who came to the session, sponsored by AKTV and FILA, accompanied by chairperson Celia Carlos and several members of the DSAP board, have confirmed participation in the 500-meter, 3-kilometer, 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer races held in partnership with the office of the Manila City Mayor Alfredo Lim and the Manila Sports Council (MASCO). The races, supported by the Federation of Senior Citizens of the Philippines, aim to raise funds for the ?Healing the Nation? medical mission aimed at extending pharmaceutical and medical assistance to indigent elderly all throughout the archipelago. ?This a family affair and DSAP expects the participation of the different health and wellness organizations, friends in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries and even members of the media who care for the elderly members of our society who need more or our assistance,? Ms. Aquino told SCOOP members during the public service forum. ?Ang DSAP po ay samahan ng mga botikang maliliit na mula nang ito ay matatag ay patuloy na nagbebenta ng murang gamot para sa mas mahihirap nating mamayan,? Ms. Aquino said by way of explaining her association?s existence. ?Since its founding, the DSAP has continuously worked with the Department of Health, FDA, Congress and other government agencies and the private sectors in spearheading civic and humanitarian projects and training programs which seek to teach both new and old drugstore owners on modern operational methods under the participating drug companies,? she said.
