NBA -- Grizzlies score grisly win over Bulls, 80-71
By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Wed, 19 Dec 2012

CHICAGO -- In an ugly game where both combatants had difficulty putting points on the scoreboard, the Memphis Grizzlies used a little fourth quarter kick to beat the visiting Chicago Bulls, 80-71, Monday night at the FedEx Forum in downtown Memphis.
The 16-6 Memphis sank only 30 of 80 field goals but they outworked the Bulls off the glass, 51-39, and their bench thumped their Bulls counterparts, 31-16.
The Bulls enjoyed a 20-11 advantage in the openng quarter but all that lead and momentum perished in the second quarter where the Grizzlies countered with a 28-14 run. At one point before the half, reserve Wayne Ellington drilled three consecutive 3s that allowed Memphis to gain the upperhand.
Point guard Mike Conley steadied the erratic Grizzlies with a pace-setting 17 points and four assists while Rudy Gay chipped in 12 points. Big man Zach Randolph added 10 and hauled 15 rebounds.
"They played hard. That's how they play. You have to take care of the ball and we didn't do that. Then, we didn't get back and got in a big hole. A big hole," Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau told Comcast Sports Chicago during his post-game press conference.
The 71-point total was a season-low for the Bulls while their 28-of-75 field goal shooting was also one of their poorest showings in the season, It was simply an awful performance all-around for Chicago, which missed nine of 11 threes and seven of 20 free throws.
Carlos Boozer led Chicago with 16 points and 13 rebounds while Marco Belinelli had 13. (HDS)
