LAURENCE COLE TO REFEREE DONAIRE-ARCE TITLE FIGHT

Laurence Cole.
Laurence Cole will referee the WBO/Ring magazine super bantamweight title fight between Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire and challenger Jorge "Travieso" Arce of Mexico at the Toyota Center here in Houston, Texas on Saturday, Sunday morning in Manila.
The fight will be telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN over Channel 2 and to Filipino communities in the Middle East and Australia on The Filipino Channel.
WBO president Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel who is the fight supervisor also named respected international judge/referee Raul Caiz Sr of West Covina, California, Levi Martinez of New Mexico and Javier Alvarez of Texas as judges.
Cole who is from Dallas who referees some of the major bouts in Texas also referees world title fights in Asia having worked the WBC super flyweight title fight when Champion Yota Sato won a twelve round unanimous decision over Filipino Sylvester Lopez last July 8 in Japan.
Martinez was one of the judges when WBO flyweight champion Brian Viloria of the Philippines won a unification bout against WBA champion Hernan "Tyson" Marquez by a spectacular 10th round TKO last November 17 while Alvarez was a judge when IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez of Mexico beat Daniel Attah in a ten round bout before Vazquez retained his title in a lopsided and lackluster fight against previously undefeated Mercito "No Mercy" Gesta of the Philippines last Saturday st the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
