Filipinos vs the World Ahead of the Filipino-jampacked Pacquiao-Marquez IV Card on Sunday

PhilBoxing.com

On December 9th, Sunday morning, Filipinos around the world will absolutely be glued to their TV screens as Welterweight Manny Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KOs) of General Santos City, South Cotabato; Super Featherweight Michael ?Hammer Fist? Fare?as (34-3-4, 26 KOs) of Gubat, Sorsogon; Lightweight Mercito ?No Mercy? Gesta (26-0-1, 14 KOs) of Mandaue City, Cebu; Welterweight Dennis Laurente (43-4-5, 24 KOs) of Palompon, Leyte; and Super Bantamweigh Dodie Boy ?Dugong Kampeon? Pe?alosa Jr. (9-0-0, 9 KOs) of Cebu, City attempt to impress the world over and emerge victorious in their respective world-class fights at the Grand Garden Arena of the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

However, little do we know, they are not the only Filipino pugilists that we have to root for starting today until Sunday as five more Filipinos are scheduled to face tough foreign opponents in four different countries (Thailand, Mexico, USA, and Japan).

Today, December 4th

First off will be 26-year old bantamweight, Rey ?StingRay? Las Pi?as (17-6-4, 11 KOs) of General Santos City by way of Santa Josefa, Agusan del Sur. He will be up against the very dangerous and undefeated Tomoki ?El Mexicanito? Kameda (25-0-0, 16 KOs) of the notorious Kameda brothers of Tokyo, Japan for a non-title 118-pound fight at the Bodymaker Colosseum (a.k.a Osaka Prefectural Gym) in Osaka, Japan today (December 4th). This will be a very difficult fight for him because the youngest of the Kameda brothers is not only undefeated in 25 fights. He also takes pride in previous solid wins over three Filipinos in Nathan Bolcio of Kapangan, Benguet (UD 10 in 2011), Tokyo-based Boy Dondee ?Dandy Toie? Pumar of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu (UD 10 in 2011) and Monico ?Mekaniko? Laurente of Palompon, Leyte (UD 10 in 2012).

Promoted by the latter?s family-owned Kameda Promotions, the event will also showcase former WBA Flyweight champion; Daiki Kameda (25-3-0, 16 KOs) facing Indonesian James Mokoginta (24-8-2, 12 KOs) in a non-title Super Bantamweight bout while WBA Bantamweight world champion, and the eldest of the three siblings, Koki Kameda (28-1-0, 17 KOs) defends his belt for the fifth time against the Interim titleholder, Hugo ?Cuatito? Ruiz (31-1-0, 28 KOs) of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico.

Friday, December 7th

Furthermore, 26-year old Noli Morales (9-3-0, 3 KOs) of Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila by way of Iligan City, Lanao del Norte rematches former tormentor and current WBO Oriental Flyweight champion, Prasitsak ?Kwanpichit Onesongchaigym/Kwanpichit 13 Rien Express? Papoem (18-0-1, 6 KOs) of Buriram Thailand on Friday afternoon at the Bangla Boxing Stadium on the beach of Patong in Phuket, Thailand.

This will be their second non-title encounter with him losing the first one via a 6-round points decision in a very close slugfest back in July at the Nai Yang Beach also in Phuket, Thailand.

This boxing is promoted by Thai businessman, Mr. Surachart Pisitwuttinan?s Nakornluang Boxing Promotions and will be broadcast by Thailand?s Channel 3.

Saturday, December 8th

A day after, Gary Shaw Promotions boxer, Glenn ?The Rock? Porras (28-3-0, 17 KOs) of Old Kidapawan, North Cotabato but now lives in Oakland, California; is scheduled to fight in a bantamweight contest on Saturday morning at the Civic Center of Kissimmee, Florida versus 32-year old Jose ?Miau? Nieves (20-2-3, 9 KOs) of Puerto Rico. This will be his third fight in the States since December 3rd last year when he outboxed Mexican journeyman, Adolfo ?El Terror? Landeros in an 8-round tussle. Hopefully, he wins this fight and sets himself up for bigger fights in his weight division.

This professional boxing event he will figure in is promoted by Felix ?Tuto? Zabala Jr.?s All Star Boxing Promotions and Gary Shaw?s Gary Shaw Productions and will be aired live by USA Telemundo on its show, ?Boxeo Telemundo?.

Sunday, December 9th

Almost five months after losing his WBC/Ring Magazine Flyweight belt to new champion, Japanese Toshiyuki Igarashi; former titlist Sonny Boy ?Sonnyboy J. Singwancha? Jaro (34-11-5, 24 KOs)of manager and promoter, Aljoe Jaro?s Jaro International Boxing Promotions returns to the ring on the same day that the Pacman faces his rival, Juan Manuel ?Dinamita? Marquez. He is set to fight current WBF Super Flyweight champion, Juan Jose ?Goofy? Montes (23-2-1, 14 KOs) of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in a non-title fight at a venue that is yet to be announced and on a card that is promoted by Promociones del Pueblo . He is moving up in weight to continue his boxing career and to try his luck in the 115-pound weight category.

Also, fighting with him, is Filipino-American Glenn ?The Bomber? Donaire (19-5-1, 10 KOs) of San Leandro, California who will be facing the come-backing former unified WBA/WBO Light Flyweight champion and knockout artist, Giovani ?El Guerrero Azteca? Segura (28-2-1, 24 KOs) in a non-title Flyweight bout. He will also be coming off a shocking upset loss to Mexican trialhorse, Omar ?Lobito? Soto last September in Tampa, Florida and is poised to work on his shortcomings from that fight and to rebound in this new opportunity.

This world-class boxing event will be televised by Mexico Televisa.

This week is without a doubt a great week for Philippine boxing. Not just five but ten Filipino boxers will prove to the world that Filipinos are fast dominating the sport of boxing particularly in the lighter weight divisions. All they need is support coming from their countrymen. Let us show our support to not only Pacquiao, Gesta, Fare?as, Laurente and Pe?alosa Jr but also these Filipino warriors.
