NBA -- Clippers maul Bulls
By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Mon, 19 Nov 2012

CHICAGO -- Winning an overtime game is always exhilirating, but it has its residual effects. Extra sessions, after all, mean extra minutes and extra effort spent.
Two nights after beating the Phoenix Suns at US Airways Center, the Bulls traveled to Los Angeles in a marquee match-up against the fast-rising Clippers. It was a no contest as the Clippers manhandled an obviously weary Bulls, 101-80, before a sold-out crowd at the Staples Center last Saturday night.
The Bulls turned the ball over seven times in the opening quarter and surrendered 35 points in the second quarter. Both miscues translated into a 60-33 Clippers lead which the Bulls never came close to overhauling.
Power forward Blake Griffin led the L.A. attack with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and a few highlight reels. Former Bull Jamal Crawford was again terrific off the bench, lighting up for 22 points including a 3-for-5 outing beyond the 3-point arc. Reserves Matt Barnes and Eric Bledsoe combined for 23 points while point guard Chris Paul had a quiet but very effective eight points and 10 assists.
Carlos Boozer had 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulls, who trailed 91-74 with just under six minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Rip Hamilton finished with 14 while Nate Robinson chipped in 11, but no other Bull notched double figures in points. Chicago shot only 30 of 89 from the field while the fastbreaking Clippers made 37 of 75 shots.
The Bulls won the rebounding battle 45-41, but they had 16 turnovers, two more than the Clippers. And those turnovers resulted in 26 Clippers points. (Homer D. Sayson)
