VILORIA READY TO LET HIS HANDS GO

PhilBoxing.com

World Boxing Organization flyweight champion Brian Viloria, the former WBC and IBF light flyweight champion plans to be the aggressor and to take the fight to WBA champion Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez when they clash in a unification title fight at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on Sunday, Manila Time.

The fight will be telecast in the Philippines by GMA 7.

Viloria told the Manila Standard that he had discussed his game-plan with his team headed by celebrated trainer Freddie Roach, longtime trainer and friend Ruben Gomez and Roach?s young Filipino assistant Marvin Somodio and had decided ?to just let my hands go.?

The three-time, two division world champion told us he is ?tapering down and weighed 113 pounds today and have until Friday so I?m just basically just maintaining and letting my body gear up a little bit.?

Viloria said ?I feel great just like I was against (Giovanni) Segura? whom he battered and bruised giving referee Samuel Viruet no choice but to call a halt at 29 seconds of the 8th round after Segura developed a huge, ugly lump on the right side of his forehead and was taking a bad beating on December 11, 2011.

Viloria said he was aware of the ability of Marquez and his much publicized punching power and indicated he would be ?careful because of course I know what to do.?

Right now the WBO champion said he is ?mentally and physically fine, perfect and ready to go. I wish the fight was today.?

The 31 year old Viloria who has a record of 31-3 with 18 knockouts still has a passion for boxing and has said ?as soon as the passion goes away I think it?ll be time for me to hang up my gloves. But the passion for the sport, the love for it, I just can?t get enough of it and I think that?s what?s driving me right now, just wanting to see how far I can go in this sport and try to make my name.?

Viloria made it clear ?I just want to be known as one of the top fighters in my generation and maybe in the eyes of the Filipinos and all the fight fans, I just want to make my mark before I take a bow.?

Viloria knows he is in for a tough fight against Marquez (34-2, 25 KO?s) whose two defeats were at the hands of Filipinos ? Richie Mepranum who out-boxed him in ten rounds although Marquez avenged that loss with a ten round unanimous decision in a rematch and a lopsided 8th round TKO at the hands of Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire, who is the reigning WBO super bantamweight and holder of the coveted WBC Diamond Belt.
