DRIAN FRANCISCO LOOKING TO WIN BY KNOCKOUT By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 14 Nov 2012 World rated Drian Francisco is looking for a knockout when he battles stocky Mexican Javier Gallo on the undercard of the flyweight unificatioin title fight between WBO champion BrianViloria and WBA champion Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, Manila Time. Francisco told Jayson Otamias, reporter for Viva Sports, that ?I?d love to go for a knockout but we will be careful and protect myself from his punches because we don?t know what will happen.? Francisco who has been training under former heavyweight contender Justin Fortune at the Fortune Gym in Los Angeles said ?I will study his moves early in the fight because its different from videos when you are in the ring and I will adjust when on top of the ring.? He said ?its easy to say you have a good plan but its different once inside the ring. Francisco said he is in ?fine condition especially since we will be fighting at 122 pounds and I can eat well and don?t have to reduce. It?s cold here and we eat a lot of fruits and the heavier weight I can fight at, its better for me. I am really prepared for this fight and I want to put on a good show.? The fight against Gallo was finalized a couple of days ago after weeks of uncertainty which upset Fortune who told the Manila Standard ?its very difficult to prepare a fighter if you don?t know who his opponent is.? Fortune is impressed with Francisco whom he described as ?a good little fighter who can punch besides being tough and awkward.? The 29 year old Gallo from Tijuana has a record of 18-5-1 with 10 knockouts and one of his defeats was at the hands of former WBC light flyweight champion Rodel Mayol to whom he lost a ten round majority decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 7, 2011. The Mexican dropped a ten round unanimous decision to David Quijano in his last fight on January 21 after scoring a 3rd round TKO over Jason Rorie on September 9, 2011. Francisco who just turned 30 has a record of 23-1-1 with 18 knockouts and is coming off a spectacular 1st round knockout of Jose Carlos Vargas of Mexico whom he dropped three times in the opening round in a fight in Mexico.
