TEAM PACQUIAO CONCOCTS NEW TACTICS FOR MARQUEZ

PhilBoxing.com

MANILA(PNA)- Learning different moves to answer Juan Manuel Marquez’ counter-punching style will be Manny Pacquiao’s additional concern starting on the second week of preparations for the fourth episode of his rivalry with the fellow future Hall of Famer on December 8 (December 9 in Manila) in Las Vegas.

“We’re now entering our second week here in LA and we will be starting to study different moves to solve the puzzle of Marquez’ style,” the Filipino sensation said Tuesday night following another rigorous sparring sessions at the Wild Card Gym in the heart of the entertainment capital Hollywood,

“As we’ve been saying, ibang-iba na ang magiging takbo ng laban ngayon compared to our three previous fights because I will be going for a more convincing result like, say, knockout,” he said.
“Yes, admittedly, my style of fighting has also been studied and solved by my immediate past opponents, kaya nga the more reason we have to put new emphasis in preparing this time,” he pointed out.

“So, I believe our fourth fight will a good one, which boxing fans will appreciate.

Freddie and myself as well as other members of my team are happy with the progress of the camp,” he said. “Some people said I’ve lost my hunger to fight.

The father of four with wife Jinkee assured his fans, especially his countrymen back home that the quickness and the power in his fists, which are the trademark of his edge over those he has so far disposed – the likes of Oscar DeLa Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito – still remain and only need to be polished anew.

Assistant trainer and boyhood friend Buboy Fernandez, agreed, saying preparation is on track and Pacquiao will be in fighting form in the next two or three weeks on the road and in the gym.

“Siguro within the week, sisimulan na ang plyometrics at isometrics exercises to strengthen his body and legs,” Fernandez, who like his boss is seeking a congressional seat in next year’s elections through party-list representation, said. “Binibigyan din naming ng additional exercise to increase his speed in both feet and hands.

“Boxing is Manny’s life. It’s the reason why he is now in his present status in life. At alam din niyang di dapat pabayaan ito,” he assured.
