PACQUIAO WANTS TO ERASE ALL DOUBTS

PhilBoxing.com

MANILA (PNA) - Soft-spoken Filipino ring sensation Manny Pacquiao had never spoken ill of his opponents ever since he started his professional boxing career 17 years ago.

Pacquiao, who turns 34 this coming December, likewise, never predicted the outcome of all his 60 fights (54 victories, 38 of them via stoppage) stained by a pair of losses on the way to becoming the only fighter in history to crown himself champion in eight weight divisions.

This time, however, tired of being branded by Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez, whom he faces for the fourth time on December 8, the ?Pacman? declared for all to know that he intends to march to victory via the most impressive route ? a knockout.

People?s Journal in a brief overseas telephone interview shortly after Wednesday?s (Thursday in Manila) second leg of media tour in New York.

?I won two of our first three fights, I know it, but a lot of people, including Marquez expressed doubts on the results, so I would like to win this time impressively at pag sinabi kung impressively, by knockout,? Pacquiao emphasized, reiterating what he said in the first leg of the tour in Los Angeles and at the Edison ballroom in New York?s Times Square.

?I want to erase any doubts this time around. To do that, I will not underestimate him like I did in November,? he added. ?I will stay focus in my preparations, study and apply new techniques I did not use in our previous meetings.

?Sawa na rin ako sa mga naririnig kong dinaya ko siya at nanalo siya sa lahat ng laban naming. It?s been nine years since we first fought and he?s been saying that all over the world. Kelan ba ako nandaya, matanong ko lang?? Pacquiao, father of four with wife Jinkee, who has been with him in the tour, asked.

?At saka, siyempre, gusto ko maging exciting ang fight so the fans will like it, ? he told his New York audience. ?I want to the fight to be exciting. What I want is to make people happy. I don?t want them to be bored.?
?Kelangan maging aggressive ako. I want this fight to be different from the last ones. I want a win that is decisive,? he continued.

The first time he and Marquez fought resulted in a draw despite Pacquiao?s dropping the Mexican to the canvass three times in the opening round. Four years later the Filipino won by a split decision decided by a lone knockdown suffered by Marquez in the third round.

In the completion of what was designed as a trilogy, Pacuiao, the World Boxing Organization welterweight belt-owner, again won this time via a majority verdict.

Pacquiao chose Marquez over a rematch with American Timothy Bradley, who dethroned him as the WBO 147-pound kingpin in a controversial meeting last May ending his 15-fight victory run that included eight stoppages.

In that same New York presscon, Pacquiao?s chief trainer Freddie Roach concurred with his pupil of 11 years that he should revised his strategy and learn something different to score a more impressive win.

?Marquez style-wise, is the hardest style in the world for Manny Pacquiao,? he told media and other boxing personalities, including promoter Bob Arum, Marquez and his team. ?

We fought Marquez three times using all kinds of strategy. It?s time to throw logic out the window and start over, ? the Hall of Famer stressed.

"Marquez is the smartest fighter of his era. Manny has shown him too much respect in the past two fights. This time Manny will go after him like the first fight. Manny told me he knows he needs a knockout. He?s never said that before. My job is to reignite the killer instinct Manny has lacked in the last fights with Marquez," Roach said.

Teams Pacquiao and Marquez proceed to Mexico City Thursday (Friday in Manila) for the last leg of the media hype on Saturday(Manila time).
