GARCIA?S LEFT HAND ENDS KHAN?S MONEY DREAMS (PHOTOS) By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sun, 15 Jul 2012 Mandalay Bay Events Center, Las Vegas:- At 8 to 1 odds, not too many gave the Philadelphia kid, Danny Garcia (23-0-0, 15KO) a chance to beat the highly touted and much hyped Amir Khan (26-3-0, 18KO) of England. In fact many are already talking about the future fight of the Brit against the still incarcerated Floyd Mayweather Jr. But, all those dreams just went down the gutter the moment Danny Garcia landed that fateful left counter hook. It was a fantastic shot that landed at the angle of the jaw of Khan and it made Khan danced like a drunk. Khan?s reaction to the punch reminded many of the left hook Nonito Donaire landed on Vic Darchinyan and the same shot Manny Pacquiao hit Ricky Hatton with. After that shot in the 3rd round that brought Khan down, it was just a matter of when and not how the fight will end. Khan did have anything left and all the conditioning he received from his new conditioning coach did not matter at all. Even his mighty corner wasn?t able to revive him. Khan from that time on was a lost sheep. He was so helpless that he looked at Freddie Roach as if to say ?what shall I do, coach?? But there was nothing anybody can do. Khan was done. In the 4th, he tried his best to fight back hoping to land a haymaker. But Danny Garcia was smart. He engaged just enough and he timed his punches. With Khan receiving more than he can deliver, Kenny Bayless called it off. Many questions come up as a result of this fight. Was his conditioning a little less than when he fought his last two fights? Was Alex Ariza?s services missed? One pundit even said, ?is it time for Roach to retire?? Who knows? That?s not one for me to say. In the end, what the crowd of 7061 saw was a fight that cost lots of people millions of dollars, particularly Amir Khan and Mayweather. The two may not be fighting anytime soon. With that GBP will lose millions too. As Richard Schaeffer said at the post fight presscon ?this is boxing, its unpredictable that is why we all come back to it.? Amir Khan I am sure will be back. At least that?s the message he asked Roach to give at the post fight press con and something which his Dad seconded. True, but in the mean time, back to the drawing board.
