NEVADA ATTY. GEN. KILLS THOUGHTS OF A CRIME IN PACQUIAO LOSS TO BRADLEY By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 04 Jul 2012 Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto. While most boxing experts including the media and fight fans around the world believe ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao was robbed blind when two of the three judges in the WBO welterweight title fight against undefeated junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, the Nevada State Attorney General has ruled that no crime was committed. Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto informed Top Rank promoter Bob Arum who was aghast at the decision by the judges whom he branded as ?three blind mice? that ?there do not appear to be any facts or evidence to indicate that a criminal violation occurred." Her conclusion didn?t quite satisfy Arum who wondered why the Chief Investigator spent time interviewing referee Robert Byrd but ?never talked to the judges? who were responsible for the split decision ? Jerry Roth who had Pacquiao winning 115-113 and Duane Ford and CJ Ross who scored the fight for Bradley 115-113. ?What kind of investigation is that?? he asked, adding that ?closure of this case can only happen if they talk to the judges.? Arum had formally requested Masto to conduct ?a complete inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the scoring because the public has a right to know and the fighters have a right to know? Arum pointed out that Byrd was in no way involved in judging the fight and he found it hard to understand why the judges were not interviewed pointing out that the investigators could not find out whether a crime was committed or not if the judges who scored the fight were not interviewed. Bradley?s manager Cameron Dunkin as expected welcomed the Attorney General?s report. He told well-known boxing writer Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports , "Nothing did happen, no funny business at all, and I'm not surprised that's what [Cortez Masto] found. I expected this. I'm happy they cleared it up, and for all the paranoid people who don't understand and who don't know what they're talking about, now they can calm down."
