Denver Cuello resumes training for big fight in Mexico By Raquel 'Kim' Silva PhilBoxing.com Wed, 21 Mar 2012  Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello is back in training already more than week after he put up a great performance against Indonesian Kid Suryana. Cuello, the WBC Silver Strawweight champion won via 4th round TKO over Suryana in his home province of Iloilo last March 10th. Cuello started running this morning in Rizal in preparation for his May 12th fight against WBC number 1 contender, Ganigan Lopez of Mexico. Cuello has informed that the fight might be held in Mexico this time according to his manager and promoter Aljoe Jaro. They will fight at a weight of 105 lbs., the maximum weight for that division. Cuello expressed happiness in landing that fight. ?I am excited about the fight. This is the biggest fight that my manager and boxing promoter has given me,? Cuello said. The Iloilo native who now trains at the Jaro gym in Binangonan, Rizal promised to work and train hard for this bout. ?I want to show that Denver Cuello is fighting not only for myself but also for my country.? Cuello realizes the tough competition in his division and he wants to try to remain as one of its top fighters. He promises to do his best to beat the top rated Mexican who has a record of 20-4 with 14 KO's. ?Sa darating na laban ko ay gagalingan ko pa para maipanalo ko, para ang aking bansang Pilipinas ay maging proud sa akin,? he said. He also gave thanks to those who watched and supported his last fight in his home province and dedicated that win to his family and son. He was pleased with the way he performed and the result of it and he did not forget to thank God when I conducted this interview. Cuello will resume training this afternoon at the Jaro gym after a brief rest and lunch. He is determined this early to train hard so he can put up another great performance on May 12th.
