KO TV BOXING SHOW OF PETER MANIATIS CELEBRATES 400TH PROGRAM By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 06 Mar 2012 Peter Maniatis. Well known Australian boxing promoter Peter Maniatis who hosts the popular weekly show KO Boxing on Channel 31 will soon celebrate its 400th program which airs on Tuesday nights and on Saturdays at noon. It is the longest-running show in the history of Channel 31 and is telecast on Tuesday evenings and Saturday at noon.... Maniatis will celebrate the 400th show on his fight card on Friday 30th of March at Malvern Town Hall in Melbourne. The show has hosted some of the biggest names in boxing including pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao, the eight division world champion and ?Fighter of the Decade?, reigning WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire who is No. 4 in the pound for pound rankings of Ring Magzine, Australian greats Jeff Fenech, Anthony Mundine, Kostya Tszyu, Lester Ellis, Johnny Famechon, Jeff Harding,, Danny Green as well as Roy Jones Jr. Maniatis has also featured track and field star Cathy Freeman JR, AFL Footballer Wayne Carey, and legendary American comedian and boxing fan Jerry Lewis. The show runs for 30 minutes with jazzy boxing footage and music and studio interviews by Peter Maniatis who on many occasions interviews this reporter regarding the latest boxing news from the Philippines on the show..... Maniatis said "When l came up with the concept and approached the production company C 31, the general manager promised me only 13 shows, now 10 years on and 400 boxing shows not out and going strong, it has been a decent journey". He said ? All the boxers l have in interviewed including Manny Pacquiao and Roy Jones Jr and Nonito Donaire ?have been an honor for me to interview? even as he revealed that "The scariest interview was not with a boxer but comedian Jerry Lewis he really got grumpy after the interview and tried to grab my microphone. Iit was all in good fun.? Maniatis added that ? interviewing Manny Pacquiao in his congress office in Manila was a highlight and l have to thank Ronnie Nathanielsz for organising the interview in Congress and for providing the camera crew.? Maniatis is also completing production of a four-part documentary on Filipino boxing which he shot for one month in Cebu and described as ? a good experience.? His March 30 card will feature WBA No. 12 ranked Light Heavyweight Manny Vlamis who will battle Samoan warrior Togasilimai Letoa for the WBC OPBF title. There will also be two Victorian title fights on the undercard with 8 professional bouts. Maniatis said that is Manny Vlamis ? wins the OPBF title he will be looking for a crack at a world title as top 15 fighters qualify for a world title shot."
