BANAL SMASHES PADER IN 4
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 05 Jul 2006
TAGBILARAN CITY--ALA Boy Alex John Banal continued his unbeaten streak with a fourth-round technical knockout victory over veteran journeyman Jun Pader in a scheduled tenner headlining the "Rambol sa Island City Mall" card here Monday
evening.
The event, presented by SGG Sports Promotion and Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim, was held as part of the celebration for the city's 40th Charter Day anniversary.
Jun Pader holds on the leg of AJ Banal moments after Pader was floored by Banal in the 4th round as referee Teddy Alivio comes in to break the entangled duo.
Banal caught Pader with a big shot to the chin late in the fourth round, sending the visitor down on all fours, as referee Teddy Alivio called a halt to the fight against Pader's protestations.
The win improved Banal's record to 7wins, 1 draw with 6 knockout wins, and assured him of a sure spot in the GAB's rankings next month.
On the undercard, Milan Milendo kept his unbeaten streak with a fine 78-76, 79-73, 78-74 win over Michael Rodriguez.
The vastly-improved Milendo started strong in the early part of the 8-round fight, but lost steam in the latter part to allow Rodriguez some moments of glory. The win upped Milendo's record to 6 wins, no loss with 1 KO.
ALA Boy Nic Banal also registered another win, decisioning Max Orcajada, while Mark Jason Melliguen scored his second 1st-round knockout win with a blowout over William Jorge.
Other results: Wilson 'Weng' Haya scored a third-round TKO over Tata Galendez; Gil Melliguen decisioned Jun Morano; Marjo Borres prevailed on a unanimous decision over Warren Librez; while Ricky Sismundo decisioned Markyll Taroja.
In the curtain-raiser, Leon Maratas poleaxed Kinjie De la Cruz in the opening round.
