HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDRE WARD - WBC WORLD CHAMPION

WBC/WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward was an outstanding amateur with a record of 114 wins as against only 5 losses and as a pro he hasn?t been beaten in 25 fights, 13 of which he won by knockout.
The 27 year old Ward capped his sterling career as an amateur who had won the US amateur middleweight crown in 2001 and the light heavyweight championship in 2003 by winning the light heavyweight gold medal in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
In his last fight Ward won the WBC super middleweight title while retaining his WBA belt against Carl Froch of Britain with a unanimous twelve round decision although the scorecards of two judges were much closer than it should have been.
As respected boxing writer Dan Rafael noted ?Ward dominated Froch ? despite the barrow margins on two of the judges? scorecards ? to win a unanimous decision as he unified two super middleweight titles, claimed the vacant Ring Magazine championship and was the last man standing in Showtime?s Super Six Boxing Classic.?
Ward was named ?Fighter of the Year? in 2011 by the prestigious Boxing Writers Association of America as well as receiving the same accolade from Ring Magazine and ESPN.
