DONAIRE BARELY BEATS VAZQUEZ ON THE SCORECARDS
By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sun, 05 Feb 2012

No doubt about it. Nonito Donaire Jr beat the crap of the Wilfredo Vazquez Jr tonight inside the ring at the AlamoDome in spite of a broken right hand.
In the process, Donaire won his fourth title in as many different weight divisions.
But the sweet punching Filipino barely escaped with a spit decision.
Can you believe that?
Judge Ruben Garcia scored the fight for Vazquez 115-112 while the other two judges scored the fight the same- 117-110.
Perhaps from where he sat, Garcia was seeing things different from what everybody else was seeing, the HBO audience included.
But with what was happening in the ring how can Garcia see something so different from everybody?
Was Garcia distracted by the pretty senoritas at the Alamo Dome or the ring girls that paraded the round cards?
Could it be that he ate bad burritos that caused an upset stomach and dizzy spells thus the inability to see things in their proper perspective? But, they don?t have bad burritos in SA so that could not be it.
One thing for sure Garcia simply blew it. He had a bad night, so to speak.
I would not say he was bias. That would be out of line. I would not say he was paid off. That is uncalled for either,
But Ruben Garcia had a terrible night.
Perhaps he should see his ophthalmologist first thing Monday.
Donaire?s victory tonight is very meaningful. It tells us that long after the great Manny Pacquiao is gone from boxing, we still have someone to keep us continually proud as Filipinos.
That of course is simply awesome!
