PACQUIAO FLIES TO GENSAN, AS LARIOS ARRIVES TODAY By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Sun, 25 Jun 2006 Iconic pound-for-pound hero Manny Pacquiao made a quick trip to General Santos City, presumably too lonely while training, and reunited with his two kids and lovely wife Jinkee in what will be their last family meeting before the Filipino superstar plunges into action against Oscar Larios on July 2 at the Araneta Coliseum. Pacquiao flew on board a corporate jet owned by beer giant San Miguel Corporation, but is expected to be back in Manila today to resume his light workouts at the ABSP gym prior to the big event. Pacquiao, however, was accompanied by his renowned trainer Freddie Roach, who made sure to be physically present wherever his prized pupil goes, to make sure that nothing goes haywire concerning the conditioning of his million-dollar protege. "It's just a short trip. It seems Manny misses his sons and wife. It's just a short family visit," said Pacquiao's business associate Rex 'Wakee' Salud, who called up this writer to inform of the latest twist in Pacquiao's training. Salud, however, insisted that Roach is in full control of the situation, and fans are advised not to get too worried on the prospect of Pacquiao deviating from his training regimen. Salud, who is arranging the line-up of the mammoth July 2 event, also flew back to his home base in Cebu yesterday, but indicated that he will fly back to Manila once Pacquiao returns to the capital. Meanwhile, Mexican Oscar 'Chololo' Larios is expected to plane in today at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport from Tokyo, Japan where he has been holed up for the past three weeks training for Pacquiao. Reports coming out of Tokyo indicate that Larios broke the ribs of WBC bantam champ Hozumi Hasegawa, prompting the latter's titular defense to be re-scheduled.
