A VERY TRANQUIL PACQUIAO IS A FIREBOMB WAITING TO EXPLODE By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Fri, 11 Nov 2011 Las Vegas, NV:- From all indications, Manny Pacquiao has had an excellent training camp in preparation for his trilogy with Juan Manuel Marquez that could highlight the defining moment of his career. I have been up close to the Team in his past fights but I have never seen Pacquiao so cool, so calm and collected. It seems that for this fight with the Mexican dynamite, Pacquiao is so focused nothing can come between him and a smashing victory that will emphatically state that indeed, he is the better man between the two. Things must have fallen in the right places and all distractions are either calmly managed or pushed aside. The man is just a picture of someone free of confinement, not bound or tethered to anything that can derail his march to victory. In short, Pacquiao is a firebomb primed to explode on Saturday night. Now, what might have led to such a situation besides the excellent training camp? Pacquiao has found religion yet again. It is a well known fact that the Filipino boxing idol and legend-to-be is well connected to his God. No one can doubt his very strong faith. Pacquiao in fact always credits all his victories on the ring as a gift from God. And so are all the material things he presently has. That includes his unimaginable career, his health and his vast wealth. And of course his wonderful wife and family. Yesterday, at the request of Buboy Fernandez, I went up the Pacquiao suite at The Hotel of the Mandalay Bay to check and ensure that the mouthguards to be used for Saturday as well as all the reserves are in good condition. Although, there is nothing wrong with any them, asking me to assure that they are in excellent condition is part of a process that has become a routine before his fights. When I got to the suite, a bible study was just beginning. Heading the group discussion is Pacquiao himself. He was ably helped by Dyan Castillejo and Winchell Campos. Only a select few of his very close friends and family were there for the two hour session that apparently has been a routine even at the Palazzo apartment during the training camp. ?We had these sessions three times a week during the whole training camp,? he said to this writer. ?They helped me focused on the fight and allowed me to handle all the distractions. With God?s help, I will be ready on Saturday." Photo by Dr Ed de la Vega. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ed de la Vega, DDS. |
