PACQUIAO MEDIA DAY REPORT AND PHOTOS By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Thu, 27 Oct 2011 Wildcard Gym, Hollywood, CA:- Top Rank Promotions held the final media day for Manny Pacquiao today before a huge crowd of media people that was described by one cameraman from a major TV channel in Los Angeles as a gathering that drew more people than that of Barack Obama who was in Los Angeles courting money and votes from the rich segment of Los Angeles. The guy could have been speaking the truth, after all Pacquiao is more interesting to see than Obama himself. At any rate, Manny Pacquiao came in time. He popped in the gym at exactly 2PM but it was not until an hour after that he had time to face the ?main stream media people." Pacquiao first spent an hour with reps from huge media outlets and from the wire services. But when was time for the main stream people, he gave it all. Pacquiao accommodated every single one who pushed a microphone in his face even if the questions asked were almost identical. After the obligatory interviews around the ring, Pacquiao had a few minutes stretching under the guidance of his conditioning coach Alex Ariza. Then he put on his gloves and had four rounds doing the mitts with Freddie Roach. Following that he did the double speed bag as well as the regular speed bag mostly for the benefit of the press. He ended the three hour media day stretching again to cool down assisted by his long time side kick, Buboy Fernandez. But before he left the ring to change and head for dinner, he posed for the dedicated photographers who stayed to photograph him from the beginning to the end. For whatever it is worth, his brand new Ferrari was parked in front of Nat?s Thai Restaurant which sported a sign ?Private Party.? I guess that means only those invited can join the dinner with Pacquiao. No more of the random free loaders that used to crowd the small restaurant.
