TEAM DOMINGO: UPBEAT BUT NO PROMISES
By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Thu, 08 Sep 2011

Michael Domingo was at the Pacific Mall Wednesday afternoon together with his ALA gym stablemates and the visiting Mexican boxers for a public workout held to promote the Pinoy Pride 8 fight card scheduled September 10 here in Cebu. Domingo is scheduled to face former WBA interim superflyweight titlist Drian Francisco this September 23 at the Makati City Coliseum.
? I have trained hard. I?m in good condition and I?m ready,? Domingo said, ?But I won?t promise anything, but I will fight hard to win.?
ALA Gym trainer Edito Villamor also spoke to this writer regarding the highly anticipated all-Pinoy showdown.
?This will be a tough fight,? Villamor said. ?Drian is a former interim world champion, but we will go for an upset.?
This fight is a ?fork in the road? for the career paths of the protagonists. Francisco (20W-1L, 16 KO?s) was upset in Thailand last May and lost his title to Tepparith Singwangcha while Domingo (41W-15L=2D, 19 KO?s) lost his chance to be in the title picture last year when he bowed to Vusi Malinga in South Africa in an IBF bantamweight title eliminator. Domingo has since bounced back with a win last July against Indonesian Richard Samosir.
