LARIOS ARRIVES; SET TO APPEAR ON ABS-CBN TODAY
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Thu, 27 Apr 2006
Mexican boxing superstar Oscar "Chololo" Larios arrived in Manila yesterday as he takes part in the promotional blitz to hype up his much-anticipated July 2 showdown with pound-for-pound superstar Manny Pacquiao.
Larios, who was accompanied by his manager, arrived on an EVA Air flight from Taipei which landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport shortly before noon yesterday.
The 29-year-old Guadalajara native will be staying in the country for three days before returning to Guadalajara this weekend to start training. He is set to fly to Japan in early part of June to continue his training before flying again to the Philippines a week before the fight.
Larios, the long-reigning WBC superbantam king, is set to appear as guest in a number of ABS-CBN programs today, including MUP, RADIO, Wowowee and some others, before taking part in a special press conference tomorrow at the ABS-CBN headquarters.
Pacquiao versus Larios is set for 12 rounds for the Filipino's WBC International super-featherweight title at the Araneta Coliseum.
Larios is guaranteed a $450,000 purse, the biggest in his career, while the multi-millionaire Pacquiao will 'only' get $1 Million dollars, which is less than what he got from the rematch with Erik Morales.
