Pacquiao-Marquez Press Tour kicks off Sept. 3 at Mall of Asia

PhilBoxing.com

An epic trilogy featuring Filipino pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez needs a media hype like no other. And that exactly is what the promoter, Top Rank Promotions- has prepared in a one-week, four-city press tour that will start in Manila Saturday next week and ends in Mexico City.

More than 100,000 people, including members of the international media, are expected to witness the planned extravaganza complete with music starring Pacquiao himself, who when not fighting atop the ring sings on the stage, and buddy Dan Hill. The Pacman has hit a single of Hill?s original ?Sometimes When We Touch? that has climbed to No. 7 in the Billboard Music Chart. The song was originally sung by Hill in 1977 and after only a year rose to no. 3 on the U.S. Billboard Top 100.

In what leg the duo will perform though is yet to be officially announced.

The first leg of the press tour in Manila is expected to draw 50,000 at the Mall of Asia, a throng Marquez turf in Mexico will try to match.

The following day, Sept. 4, Sunday afternoon, the Pacquiao-Marquez entourage will fly to New York for the media conference scheduled in the city that ?doesn?t sleep? on Monday (Tuesday in Manila). The next stop in Los Angeles was originally scheduled for two days but was reduced to Sept. 7 (Sept. 8 in Manila) Tuesday to allow Pacquiao to return to the Philippines after the final leg in Mexico, which will be on Sept. 8 (Sept. 9 in Manila).

After the press conference in Mexico Pacquiao will board a private plane back to Los Angeles for him to catch an immediate flight back to the Manila to resume performing his duties as Congressman of Sarangani Province.

Team Pacquiao, including chief trainer Freddie Roach and physical conditioning coach Alex Ariza, drives to Baguio City where the World Boxing Organization welterweight champ is scheduled to start training for the Nov. 12 fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
