LABAN NG LAHI ?DUGONG KAMPEON? WON?T BE ALL HYPE BUT A REAL TREAT TO BOXING FANS

PhilBoxing.com

Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Jr., former world champion Rodel Mayol, Jimrex Jaca, Eden Sonsona, and PABA Champ Randy Petalcurin will be fighting under one card on August 6 via GMA 7 this Sunday morning August 7 in the boxing blow out ?Laban ng Lahi : Dugong Kampeon?. Only GerryPens Promotions and GMA Kapuso Network can pull off such a boxing fan?s salivating kind of a fight card. The fight will be held at the Mandaue Sports Complex in cooperation with the City?s dynamic Mayor Jonas Cortes.

Dodie Jr. will face his first foreign opponent in Thai Kong Kiatpracha Gym. Mayol will entertain his hometown in a match against Jason Rotoni. Jimrex Jaca will slug with Philip Jun Demecillo. In his boxing comeback, Eden Sonsona will fight Eman Labanza. Randy Petalcurin will defend his PABA Light Flyweight belt against Michael Rodriguez while undefeated Marvin Mabait will face Jestoni Pepito.

GMA Network and GerryPens Promotions have recently joined hands not only to support Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Jr?s fast rise to boxing glory but to bring the best fights and match-ups to us boxing fans through the Kapuso Channel. In a presscon held at GMA Network Center last Monday August 1, GMA has announced the signing of a long term contract between Dodie Boy Jr. and the Network. GMA?s in-house boxing expert and anchor Chino Trinidad together with boxing legend Gerry Pe?alosa also shared on the direction of Pe?alosa Jr?s boxing career such as his inclusion in the Pacquiao-Marquez III undercard. They also confided that Dodie Jr. will be facing more foreign opponents and will possibly fight for the WBO Youth Featherweight belt early next year.

According to then world champion and now renowned promoter Gerry Pe?alosa, the fight will not only be a local but an international affair as boxing scouts, promoters, managers and fans will be coming to Cebu from other areas in the Philippines and from Japan, Australia, US, Panama and other countries. According to Gerry,? boxing promotion isn?t all about business, it is about helping Pinoy boxers rise in their career and give boxing fans the kind of entertainment that they deserve. I cannot do this alone, this fightcard was made possible because of my friends in the boxing business especially my fellow promoters Congressman Manny Pacquiao, Congressman Erbie Fabian, Aljoe Jaro, Wakee Salud and Peter Maniatis of Australia. This event was also made possible by my long time sponsor Family Rubbing Alcohol through its owner and a great friend of mine, Mr. Ernesto Yu. Lastly, this event will not be successful without the all out support of GMA Kapuso Network.?

Mark our calendars, Saturday August 6, 2011 at the Mandaue City Sports Complex at 5:00 PM with telecast at GMA 7 on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 10:00 to 12:00 noon.
