WITH A WIN OVER FOREMAN, PAWEL WOLAK SHOULD TARGET CHAVEZ JR. By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sun, 13 Mar 2011 Las Vegas, NV.:- Right after Top Rank held a post fight press conference to talk about the events just concluded at the MGM Garden Arena, I happened to bump into one of my patients, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Junior was at the MGM to see the fight between Miguel Cotto and Ricardo Mayorga. But I guess he was there scouting Pawel Wolak and Yuri Foreman too. Wolak went on to beat former world champion Yuri Foreman. Junior is a very capable opponent for both Cotto and Wolak as the trio are in about the same division. However, with Bob Arum possibly putting Cotto up against Antonio Margarito next in New York during the Puerto Rican Day, if would be nice to have Junior battle Wolak on the undercard. The winner could then potentially meet the winner between Cotto and Margarito. I spoke briefly to Junior about the possibility of meeting Wolak in the near future and his reply was a very enthusiastic ?Yes, I want to fight him. I know I can beat him.? Chavez in fact almost fought Wolak last December at the Honda Center, but for one reason or another, the fight did not go through. Wolak instead fought Jose Pinzon who he beat via a TKO on the 7th round. Polak?s win over Foreman was a bit of a surprise. Although both hold the same 28 win record, it appeared on paper that Foreman would be a slight favorite to beat Wolak, only because Foreman was an ex-world champion. But Wolak has other ideas last night. From the get go he took the fight to Foreman and took away the ability of the student rabbi to use his jab, one of his main arsenals. With that Wolak was able to penetrate the defense of Foreman and gradually beat him down. The frustrated Foreman quit on his stool at the end of 6 rounds.
