PhilBoxing.com

Both Jimrex "The Executioner" Jaca and last minute substitute Arnel Dunal weighed in at 149 lbs during the official weigh-in held Friday noon. Jaca and Dunal will fight for ten rounds in the main event. This card billed as "The Night of Gladiators" will also feature Spanish boxer Felix Soria (138 lbs) who will be facing local boy Giovanni Rota (135 lbs) in a six rounder. Soria is undefeated (9W-0L-1D, 4 KO's) and is a former amateur champion in his country.

Jaca (32W-6L-3D, 17 KO?s) was supposed to be fighting William Gonzalez of Panama but Rafael Sancho of RS Promotions said during the press conference held after the weigh-in that Gonzalez' manager Ludo Saenz informed him that the boxer's problems with the law prevented him from making his scheduled flight to the Philippines. Dunal however said that he was in good shape as he was preparing for a fight in Canada that got cancelled. Both fighters promised to give it their all.

Also seeing action in this card is Dodie Boy Pe?alosa, Jr.(122 lbs) who will make his third fight as a pro against Jun Morano (118 lbs). Penalosa, whose father and uncle are former two division world champions, will have a busier schedule this year as he will fight again this April 2 in San Nicolas,Cebu City. His father Dodie,Sr said that he would like to schedule a fight in the U.S., hopefully in the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley undercard.

Also set to fight are Julios Alcos (108 lbs) vs Tantan Ricablanca (107 lbs), Virgilio Silvano (110 lbs) vs Erwin Pulvera (110 lbs), Sarry Canonigo (106 lbs) vs Roel Honor (108 lbs) and Jelbert Bacalso (111 lbs) vs Junny Salogaol (112 lbs).

Fight Promoter Rafael Sancho is married to a Filipina for four years, Jelyn, who acted as interpreter. They said that they will be bringing in more foreign opponents and they will make up to Filipino fans by making sure Jaca will have a quality foreign opponent in his next bout. Sancho thinks highly of Pinoy boxers and plans to sign more local fighters under his wing.

The boxers also had their routine pre-fight physical examination during the weigh-in held the Wine Shop in Gorordo Ave.,Cebu City supervised by Rolando Mendoza of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB - Cebu).

The fight will be held this Saturday March 12 at the Tabunok Sports Complex in Talisay City. Fight time is at 7 PM.
