NIGHT OF SUNDAY PUNCHES IN DALAGUETE By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Mon, 07 Feb 2011 Dalaguete, Cebu ? It was a long but entertaining Sunday night in the southern town of Dalaguete in Cebu. The crowd at the Dalaguete Sports Complex only had a brief glimpse of the boxing prowess of Marlon Tapales Singwangcha as he stopped Charlie Cabilla in the first round with the quick right uppercut. Official time: 2:46. PBF featherweight champ T.I. Yamagata Aguelo and PBF lightweight champ E. Gabejan Singwangcha engaged in ten rounds of brutal phone booth warfare. Gabejan was bleeding from the nose in the second round as they proceeded to trade hard hooks. Aguelo had Gabejan hurt in the 3rd and 4th cantos. With their resolve and stamina tested to their limits, they continued to trade punch for punch. In the 8th, Aguelo was slowed down by a low blow. Gabejan-Singwangcha was deducted a point and Aguelo still finished the round strong. Aguelo took the ninth but suffered a cut on his left eyebrow. In the tenth Aguelo landed the cleaner blows to take the fight. All three judges scored it for Aguelo ? 96-93, 97-92 and 97-92. Marco Singwangcha exploded with combos from the opening bell and dropped Ricardo Roa with a left hook to the liver. The referee reached the count of ten in 51 seconds of the very first round. All three judges scored it 96-94. Lobert Bayo own by unanimous decision over Christian Saga in a six rounder. The scores of all three judges read 58-56. Henry Acha and Marlou Sandoval fought to a split draw after six rounds. One point was deducted from Acha in the 5th stanza for a low blow. The scorecards read 56-56, 57-56 Acha and 57-56 Sandoval. Jerich Chavez Singwangcha beat Jayson Inso by majority decision after four rounds. The scorecards read 40-36 and 39-37 for Chavez Singwangcha and one judge had it 38-38. In the first pro bout of the evening, Bobbie Singwangcha won by TKO at the end of the second round against Jimboy Rosales. Rosales was being hammered and bleeding from the nose prior to the stoppage. Thai promoter Naris Singwangcha gave cash dollars and watches to the winners. Five pairs of amateur boxers from Sibonga and Dalaguete opened the event.The professional bouts were supervised by Celso Miranda and Rolando Mendoza of the Games and Amusements Board of Cebu. This figh card was promoted by Rex 'Wakee' Salud, Aljoe Jaro and Naris Singwangcha of Thailand in cooperation with the local government of Dalaguete.
