COMPLETE FIGHT RESULTS AND PHOTOS FROM MANDALAY BAY By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sun, 12 Dec 2010 Las Vegas, NV: Amir Khan (24-1-0-17KO) last night barely escaped with a very close unanimous decision over the tough Argentinean, Marcos Maidana (29-2-0, 27KO). Khan dropped Maidana in the first round via two vicious shots to the liver area but Maidana avoided an early ending of the fight by recovering nicely as the fight progressed. In round 10 he rocked Khan pretty badly and almost turned the table on Khan. The scores were 114-111, 114-111 and 113-112. Khan retained his WBA Super lightweight title. In the supporting main event, Victor Ortiz (28-2-2, 22KO) knocked down a very determined Lamont Peterson (28-1-1,14KO) twice in round thee but was unable to continue the assault and Peterson was able to recover nicely and almost stole a victory from Ortiz. Joan Guzman (31-0-1, 18KO) kept his unbeaten record via a 2nd round TKO over Jason Davis (11-8-1,3KO) by softening his young opponent with two low blows in round 1.
