?EL DEMOLEDOR? CONFIDENT OF VICTORY By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Tue, 26 Oct 2010 Cebu City - The Demolition Man from Nicaragua Luis Alberto Perez said that he is ready and here to win his fight against AJ ?Bazooka? Banal of Ermita,Cebu City. ?I have sparred for three months, a total of one hundred rounds against southpaws.? the former two division world champion said during a press conference held Tuesday noon at the Maya Mexican Restaurant in Cebu City. When asked about the losing streak he suffered after losing his IBF bantamweight belt to Ghana's Joseph Agbeko, he replied ?I feel I did not lose that fight. I won my last fight. I came here to fight and I know how to win.? Mario Antonio Garcia Fonseca of Team Perez said that ?He will be the strongest opponent of Banal. We travelled from the other side of the world, lost our luggage but we are ready to fight.? Fonseca said that Perez has set his sights on WBO 122 lb division champ Wilfredo Vaquez or a WBO interim title at 118. Perez said that he accepted to fight here in the Philippines because of Banal's world ranking. ?If I beat him, it will lead to bigger fights.? When he was the IBF superflyweight champ, he used to be under Don King Promotions. When asked if he saw films of Banal's fights, he answered ?I don't like to watch the videos of my opponents but I have the key to victory. My preparation for this fight is the same as my training for my world title fights.? Perez' height, reach and punishing jab will definitely pose problems for Banal. Also attending the press conference was Bladimir ?Vibora? Hernandez of Mexico, who will face Top Rank welterweight boxer Mark Jason Melligen. ?I have seen Melligen fight on television. We will target his body,? Hernandez said. Melligen's trainer Tony Martin however told philboxing prior to the start of the presscon that ?It's not a question of 'if Melligen will win', I know he will.? Perez and Hernandez will meet their opponents face to face in the final press conference to be held this Thursday. Also seeing action this Saturday October 30 at the Waterfront Hotel will be teenage lightweight sensation Jason Pagara who will take on Thai Sapapetch Sor Sakaorat and up and comer Larry ?Bon Jovi? Canillas, who goes up against veteran Ramie Laput of Digos, Davao del Sur.
