Dodie Boy,Jr. to fight on Melindo-Tamara undercard By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sat, 23 Oct 2010 Dodie Boy Pe?alosa, Jr, has been waiting for nine months for his second professional fight. The son of former two division world boxing champion Diosdado ?Dodie Boy? Pe?alosa signed a co-managerial contract with WBA interim superflyweight titlist Nonito Donaire,Jr. and Cameron Dunkin early this year. Donaire and Dunkin then arranged for a promotional deal with U.S. based TKO Boxing. But his scheduled fights fell through. His first opponent reported to the official weigh-in exceeding the contracted weight limit. Last July, there were reports that TKO Promotions was no longer solvent. But Dodie,Jr. did have a good learning experience sparring with Donaire. ?I talked with Mr. Tony Aldeguer in Cebu and he asked about my son. I told him that he couldn?t get a fight in the U.S. Mr. Aldeguer suggested that he should fight again here in the Philippines on an ALA promoted card.? Dodie,Sr told this writer during a conversation in Baguio City early this week. ?He is not under contract with ALA Promotions,? the elder Penalosa added, ?We will reassess our options after this fight.? ALA Promotions Vice President Dennis Ca?ete and Public Relations head Chad Ca?ares said they are looking for an opponent for Dodie,Jr and the plan is to make him fight on the undercard of Milan Melindo vs. Carlos Tamara this November. The 19 year old southpaw made his professional debut last January 23, knocking out Anthony Balubar in two rounds, at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City. That fight was in the undercard of the IBF jr.flyweight title bout between Carlos Tamara and Brian Viloria. With his skills and pedigree, Dodie,Jr would be a prize catch for any promotional company.
