BATAWANG TARGETS WBO AS-PAC LT.FLY TITLE IN CHINA
PhilBoxing.com Wed, 25 Nov 2009
Bert “The Ninja” Batawang will return to the ring against Jack Amisa of Indonesia for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific jr. flyweight title this November 28 in Guangdong, China.
Promoter Sammy Gello-ani has informed that Batawang already has his visa and will fly to China tomorrow together with trainer Jojo Palacios.
The 38 year old Batawang is a 19 year pro with a 44 W -14 L- 3 D record with 36 KO’s . He has won the Philippine light flyweight, WBA Pan-African and WBO Oriental light flyweight titles. But the world title eluded him in 2007 when he lost to Ulises Solis of Mexico by 9th round TKO for the IBF lt.flyweight crown. Former IBF minimumweight champ Muhammad Rachman of Indonesia once described Batawang as one of his toughest opponents even if he beat Batawang by 10 round decision in 2002. The Ninja has fought in Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, South Africa and Mexico. He has always given boxing fans their money’s worth.
His opponent, Jack Amisa is a seven year pro from Jakarta with a record of 19W -10 L -2 D with 14 KO’s. He lost to Edren Dapudong of the Braveheart Boxing Club two years ago by 3rd round TKO and also came up short in previous attempts to win various regional belts like the PABA and Asian Boxing Council titles.
