KATSIDIS, RAMIREZ MAKE WEIGHT By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Fri, 30 Jan 2009 Australia's Michael "The Great" Katsidis and Spain's Angel Hugo "El Tren" Ramirez easliy made the 135 lb. weight limit for their showdown for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific lightweight title. Katsidis weighed 135 lbs. on his first try at the scales while Ramirez weighed in at 134 lbs. The official weigh-in was done 1PM Friday at the Rosal/Adelfa Rooms of the Cebu City Marriott Hotel, the official hotel of the "War" boxing extravaganza. Anthony "Rocky" Marcial, will defend his WBO Oriental jr. lightweight belt, made weight on his first try at 129 lbs. while his undefeated challenger Vacharakrit Senayan weighed in at 130 lbs. Ciso "Kid Terrible" Morales had to shed off an extra pound at the weigh in before making the 122 lb. weight limit for his WBO Oriental jr.featherweight title defense against Pitchitchoke Singmanasak. The Thai boxer weighed 121 1/4 lb. on his first attempt. ?Marvelous? Marvin Sonsona also did not make weight on his first try - weighing in at 113 1/2 lb. - and had to sweat off the extra weight and reached 112 lbs on his second attempt. His opponent for his defense of the WBO Asia Pacific Youth titlist, Liempetch Sor Veerapol weighed in exactly 112 lbs. on his first try. For the fighters figuring in the supporting bouts, Rolando Magallano weighed 126 lbs while his opponent Kevin De la Cruz weighed 127 lbs. Marvin Mabait weighed in at 115 lbs while his opponent Marco Demecillo weighed in at 117 lbs. This international fight card will be held tomorrow at the Cebu Coliseum. Gates open at 4 pm, the fights start at 5 pm and the main event will be at 7 pm as it will be beamed live to Australia. It wil also be aired 9PM tomorrow over Studio 23 and 9AM on Sunday over ABS-CBN.
