SEVERAL FILIPINOS IN TOP RUNGS OF OPBF RATINGS

Aside from mandatory minimum weight challenger Denver Cuello and flyweight challenger Jojo Bardon and the only reigning champion, lightweight Randy Suico, several Filipino boxers are included in the top rungs of the latest Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation ratings.

In the minimum weight division Rollen Del Castillo whose planned fight against former IBF world champion Muhammad Rachman was called off by the Indonesian promoter is ranked No. 8.

In the light flyweight division former OPBF minimum weight champion and world title contender Rodel Mayol (25-3-1, 19 KO’s) is rated No. 4 while Along Denoy is at No. 7.

In the flyweight division Philippine champion Rocky Fuentes (21-6-2, 13 KO’s) is No. 3, WBO Oriental champion Richie Mepranum (18-1-1, 7 KO’s No. 5 and Fernando Lumacad No.8.

Rugged super flyweight champion Danilo “Pitbull” Pena is rated No. 1 behind Japanese champion Kanosuke Tomiyama whose next defense is voluntary while Gerope Mercado is at No. 4, Glen Porras No. 5 and Eric Barcelona No. 10

WBO Oriental bantamweight champion Michael Domingo is ranked No. 5 in the 118 pound category while in the super bantamweight division where Thailand ’s Wethya Sakmuangklang is champion, Jun Talape who lost in his title bid recently has dropped to No.3 with SAriel Delgado at No. 7 and WBO Oriental champion Ciso “Kid Terrible” Morales ((12-0, 7 ‘s)at No. 8.

In the featherweight division where the title is vacant, Vinvin Rufino is at No. 7 and Philippines No. 1 Michael Farenas at No. 10. The 130 pound super featherweight division where Japan’s Takashi Uchiyama has to give South Korea’s Byung Joo Moon a mandatory title shot, sometime sparring partner of Manny Pacquiao, Aaron Melgerejo is No. 3 and WBO champion Anthony “Rocky” Marcial No. 6 with Jimrex Jaca at No.10.

Lightweight champion Randy Suico is up for a mandatory against Japan ’s Ichitaro Ishii. In the 135 pound division JR Sollano is No. 5 and Dan Nazareno No. 9 Super lightweight Mark Jason Melligen is ranked No. 1 and Eusebio Baluarte o. 4 while among the welterweights Rev Santillan is No. 2 and Arniel Tinampay No. 6.
