FIGHT NIGHT IN TALISAY: MARCIAL PROMISES TO KO THAI IN 2ND ROUND

PhilBoxing.com

Cebu City -- The main protagonists for Friday's Fight Night in Talisay met for the first time during the press conference held this afternoon at the Golden Gisangag Restaurant here where Anthony "Rocky" Marcial, the late replacement of the injured Ciso Morales, promised to knockout his Thai opponent Thongthai Rajanondh not later than the 2nd round. Marcial and Rajanondh will vie for the vacant WBO Oriental Super Featherweight Title.

The 5'-9" 22-year-old Marcial, the undefeated prospect from Zamboanga who boosts a near perfect knockout record of 9-wins with 8 knockouts, may have a good reason to be over-confident because he towers his much shorter Thai opponent, who will climb 4 lbs north of his regular weight to meet him at super featherweight.

Rajanondh (17-8-0 4KOs) on the other hand told Marcial not to be over-confident because what he lacked in height he compensated by experience having fought some of the best prospects in the region including fighting the undefeated Indonesian Daud Cino Yordan in his last fight.

The other title fight for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific Light Flyweight Championship will feature another local prospect Jhonreil Casimiro who will go up against Thai visitor Liempetch Sor Veerapol.

Another exciting match-up of Junior lightweights, Rey Labao of the Dante Ortiz’ boxing stable of Las Vegas ( 16W ( 11 Kos ) – 1 L ) clashes with Darryl Pucdol of RWS Stable of Cebu.

Other fights will be between promising South Korean flyweight Jonghwa Lee under SGG promotional outfit who is undefeated with a record of 7-0-1 with 1 knockout. An excellent boxer, boxer Lee faces Erwin Pulvera. Junior flyweight Jheter Oliva from General Santos City will take on Jerome Buntog while super bantamweight Richie Abapo of Talisay City clashes with Brian Inihaw.

Meanwhile, the official weighin will be held tomorrow, Thursday, starting at 10 a.m. at the Golden Gisangag Restaurant and on Friday morning, the main protagonists will be paraded at the main thoroughfares of the city of Talisay.

The event is being organized with the full support of the local government of the city of Talisay in partnership with SGG Sports Promotions and the Talisay City Amateur Boxing Association (TACABA) and will be held at the 3,000-capacity Talisay City Gym. The gate opens at 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon Friday.
