By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Thu, 17 Jul 2025
The RP Blu Girls delivered yet another commanding performance in the WBSC Women’s Softball Asia Cup 2025, overwhelming Singapore with a lopsided 13-0 victory. The Philippine squad erupted with eight runs in the first inning and never looked back, ending the game in just four innings. This dominant showing pushed their current record to 5-1, with prior wins against South Korea, Malaysia, India, and Thailand. Their only loss so far came at the hands of powerhouse Japan.
Leading the offensive charge was Roma Jane Rivera Cruz, who went 2-for-2 and scored twice, boosting her batting average to a scorching .692. Mylia Isabel Perez added another strong outing with two runs, an RBI, and two walks. Alyssa Marie Daniell and Alaiza Talisik also contributed heavily, with two RBIs and three RBIs respectively. As a team, the Blu Girls tallied nine hits and drew 11 walks, showing discipline and power at the plate, while the defense kept the slate clean with no errors.
ASAPHIL President Jean Henri Lhuillier expressed his immense pride in the team’s continued success. “The Blu Girls are showcasing world-class talent and grit every time they step on the field,” he said. “Their teamwork, determination, and heart are making the Philippines proud. We are excited to see how far they can go in this tournament.”
The Filipinas are set for another high-stakes match as they face China next. With momentum firmly on their side and confidence riding high, the RP Blu Girls are determined to secure a spot in the top three and qualify for the 2026 World Cup.-Marlon Bernardino-
