AJ Paciones: A Rising Filipino Boxing Star's Journey to Glory

PhilBoxing.com

AJ Paciones.

Boxing is a sport steeped in tradition, where the lineage of champions can weave through generations like an intricate tapestry. In the case of AJ Paciones, this isn't just a metaphor; it's a reality. The 18-year-old Filipino light flyweight carries the fighting spirit of his father, former warrior Do Dong Paciones, not just in his DNA but in his every punch and step in the ring.

Born in the Philippines but raised in Vietnam, AJ has boxing coursing through his veins. It's not just a passion; it's a birthright, a calling that echoes in the rhythmic beat of his training sessions and the steely glint in his eyes. On December 28th, this young prodigy steps into the ring in Thailand, not just for any fight, but for the defense of his WBA Asia Light Flyweight Title.

A Legacy in His Gloves

AJ's story is one of unwavering dedication and a burning desire to honor his family's legacy. His father, Do Dong, was a legend in his own right, waging countless battles across Thailand and etching his name in the annals of boxing history. Now, the torch has been passed, and AJ carries it with the same fiery spirit that once ignited his father's fists.

The Road to Thailand

The upcoming fight in Thailand is a pivotal moment in AJ's young career. His opponent, the experienced and battle-hardened Kitidech Hirunsuk of Thailand, presents a formidable challenge. Kitidech, a former Muay Thai champion with 16 professional fights under his belt, is a force to be reckoned with. But AJ is undeterred. He has been training relentlessly under the watchful eye of his father/coach, Do Dong. Every drop of sweat, every aching muscle, is a testament to his unwavering focus and unyielding determination.

More Than Just a Fight

This fight is more than just a sporting event; it's a clash of wills, a story of heritage and hope. AJ carries the dreams of his family, his country, and countless fans who see in him a reflection of their own aspirations. His precise jab and lightning-fast combinations are not just tools of the trade; they are symbols of his unwavering spirit and his unyielding pursuit of glory.

The Legacy Continues

Win or lose, AJ Paciones is already a champion. He is the embodiment of perseverance, the living testament to the unwavering spirit of the Filipino boxing tradition. His journey is far from over, but one thing is certain: the name Paciones will continue to echo through the halls of boxing history, a testament to a lineage of warriors who bleed passion and fight with the heart of a lion.

So, on December 28th, as AJ steps into the ring in Thailand, let us cheer not just for a boxer, but for a son, a warrior, and a testament to the enduring power of dreams.

DO DONG AND AJ SPEAKS TO PHILBOXING:

DO DONG:

"We have been training hard here in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

"We expect a good fight.

"The key is to keep focus at all times, and believe in ourselves. There could be moments in the fight when things could be rough and difficult. If so, we can go thru them. We can handle. And we are going to find the way to win.

"I want my son to be better than me."

AJ

"I’ve been training so hard for this fight. Because this an important fight in my career, and my first defense of my WBA ASIA Light Flyweight title too.

"But, when I have time, I read and watch boxing. I like Boots Ennis, Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney.

"My favorite Pinoy fighter is my dad and my granpa too. They were both boxers.

"Terrence Bud Crawford is a really interesting boxer to me.

"But in my weight-class (108 pounds), the most exciting boxer is Japanese champion Kenshiro Teraji.

"Living in Vietnam is fun. People are nice. They are similar to kids in my country. In fact, Vietnam is my second home, and I do speak basic Vietnamese.

"I want to bring glory to our Family and to our Motherland," is how AJ Paciones feels."

Best of luck, AJ! We are all rooting for you!
