Argentinian former world champion "Locomotora" Oliveras Suffers Stroke

PhilBoxing.com

The boxing community is sending an outpouring of support and concern for former Argentine multiple world champion Alejandra "Locomotora" Oliveras, who was rushed to the Jose Maria Cullen Hospital in Santa Fe on Monday after suffering an ischemic stroke. The 47-year-old beloved figure, known for her fierce fighting spirit and advocacy, presented with a confusional state accompanied by a worrying loss of mobility on the entire left side of her body.

Doctors at the Jose Maria Cullen Hospital have diagnosed an ischemic stroke, and Oliveras's prognosis is currently guarded. Medical staff emphasize that the next 48 hours will be crucial in assessing her progress and determining the extent of her recovery.

Adding to the concern, it was revealed that Oliveras had undergone cosmetic breast surgery just a few days prior to the stroke. While the exact correlation, if any, is yet to be determined, her medical team is constantly monitoring her condition and administering specific treatment to manage the acute situation.

Oliveras's family has issued a plea for respect and caution from the public and media during this challenging time, while also expressing their profound gratitude for the immense outpouring of affection and well wishes from fans and colleagues worldwide.

"Locomotora" Oliveras carved out an impressive professional boxing career between 2005 and 2017, amassing a formidable record of 33 wins (16 KOs), 3 losses, and 2 draws. Her fighting pedigree saw her share the ring with an array of world-class champions, including Claudia Lopez, Jackie Nava, Marcela Acuña, Monica Acosta, Liliana Palmera, Dahiana Santana, Dayana Cordero, and Erika Farias, among many others. She was known for her relentless aggression and iron will, earning her the fitting moniker "Locomotora" (The Locomotive).

Beyond her achievements in the ring, Oliveras has continued to be a powerful voice for change. She is currently serving as a constituent convention member in Santa Fe, demonstrating the same strong charisma and unwavering spirit in her fight for the most disadvantaged social classes as she did throughout her boxing career, where she passionately demanded better treatment and recognition for female boxers.

The boxing world, along with her vast fanbase, remains hopeful that Alejandra "Locomotora" Oliveras can move forward during this incredibly difficult period and make a strong recovery.
