Person with disability to join in the Gov. Pacquiao Swim Across Sarangani Bay By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Thu, 18 May 2023 ![]() A PERSON with disability (Intellectual) will participate during the first Gov. Rogelio D. Pacquiao Swim Across Sarangani Bay on May 27. Twelve-year-old Bladimir Sebastian Gonzales will swim from Sarangani Energy Corporation to Mt. Sabrina Beach Resort. “Bladimir will only be swimming three kilometers,” said father and event coordinator Christian “Dong” Gonzales. The rest of the swimmers will compete in the 15-kilometer race. The 19 swimmers, however, will no longer include 72-year-old Jairulla “Elder” Jaitulla, a former Olympic swimmer, who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics and the 1984 Summer Olympics. “Coach Jaitulla was not allowed to swim by his doctor and his wife,” said Gonzales. Jaitulla also failed to secure an official ‘Fit-To-Swim 15 kilometers’ medical certificate signed by a licensed physician within seven days before race day. "No original medical certificate, no swim,” said Gonzales. The youngest swimmer is 14-year-old Robb Nathan Mariano while the oldest is Arthur Abogado, 42, from Davao City. The event is sponsored by Pacman Fitness Gym, Madwave Phils., Mt. Sabrina Beach Resort (finish end), Family Country Hotel, PNP Maritime, Philippine Coast Guard, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and Provincial Hospital of Sarangani. Photo: Sen.
