Rilloroza, Ventayen rule San Fabian rapid chess tourney By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Wed, 03 May 2023 Istraelito Rilloroza and Mark Noah Ventayen ruled the San Fabian Summer Chess League Rapid Tournament held last April 29, 2023 at Brgy. Sagud-Bahley in San Fabian, Pangasinan. Rilloroza topped the Open category while Ventayen captured the title in the 14 years old and below kiddies division. Rilloroza, a varsity woodpusher of the Far Eastern University that is trained by no less than Grandmaster Master (GM) Jayson Gonzales, finished the Open Division with 6.5 points while Apollo Agapay and Emmanuel Lomibao trailed his closely at second and third place with 6.0 points each. Jabez Antonio Canilang was fourth with 5.5 points followed by Jonathan Bayron, Brylle Vinluan, Jhune Dultra, Edgar Tullao, Gerald Lalas, Sinoden Saripada, Jerome Junig and Elwood Lacap, who all finished with 5.0 points apiece. Meanwhile, Ventayen ruled the seven-round Swiss system rapid competition with 6.5 points. Liuyen Wuo settled for second place with 6.0 points. Vince Mark Gabrillo rounded off the top five with 5.5 points followed by Cleiford Kortchnoi Molinyawe also with 5.5 and Kim Andrea Mamaril. Rishi Cendana grabbed the sixth place with 5.0 points, the same output of George Wu Jr., John Crisjard Estabillo, Jewel Hannah Aquino, Rian Edora, Gian Miel Erfe Mandagan and Whisky Rosario. "The inaugural chess tournament of San Fabian Chess Club held last 29 April 2023 at Brgy. Sagud-Bahley, San Fabian, Pangasinan was successful. Not only chess players from Pangasinan but also from Laguna, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, Isabela, Baguio City, and La Union participated in the one-day rapid chess event.
