Dmitriy Salita to be Honored by The WBC for Contributions to Detroit Boxing
PhilBoxing.com Wed, 17 Aug 2022

In a special moment during his latest Detroit Brawl event, last Wednesday at The Garden Theater in Midtown Detroit, promoter Dmitriy Salita was presented with a medal and informed by World Boxing Council Official Frank Garza that the WBC will honor Salita for his “contributions to resurrecting professional boxing in the great city of Detroit,” at the WBC’s 60th Annual Convention later this year.
Already officially named the WBC’s Co-Ambassador to the Middle East last year for his contributions to that region as well, the industrious Salita had been open about his plans for bringing Motown boxing back to life and has made good on every promise to do so in the following years.
His heavily attended Detroit Brawl series and backing of several local prospects and contenders, as well as his charitable work and importation of many top international contenders to the gyms of Detroit have made Salita an invaluable asset to the once-great boxing city and home to the immortal Joe Louis and Tommy Hearns, among many others.
Salita was presented with the medal inside the ring before Wednesday’s main event, as an appreciative crowd signaled their approval of his efforts.
“I am grateful that the WBC has recognized the work we are doing in bringing world-class professional boxing to the city of Detroit,” said Dmitriy Salita. “I’m humbled by the award and feel encouraged to take the next steps in our growth.”
“Dmitriy Salita has brought freshness and excitement to Detroit’s boxing scene,” added WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman. “We have followed his career since he himself was a boxer and he now stands with the best of boxing’s promoters. On top of that, he is an integral part of WBC Cares as a MidEast Ambassador, bringing peace and hope to the region. We are very proud of our association with Salita Promotions.”
