Princess Rane Magallanes rules Age Group Chess Rapid Tournament By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Fri, 20 May 2022 DIPOLOG CITY, Zamboanga del Norte---Princess Rane Magallanes of Dipolog City dominated the Age Group chess championship held at the Ground Floor, Museo Dipolog in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte last Sunday, May 15, 2022. Magallanes scored 6.5 points to rule the 7-round over the board chess tournament 10 and under category and went home with the top prize of P3,000 in this event backed up by mayor Darel Dexter T. Uy in celebration of P'gsalabuk Festival, which was organized by the Dipolog City Chess Association headed by it's president Ronald Truno Solon and tournament director Michel Jackson Ambuang in cooperation with Busog 28 CEO Michael "Mike" Tamonan, Mam Cendy Magallanes, Ranell Cendy Ticketing, Mindanao Chess God Father Bebs Cheng, Elvis R. Longjas, Barkadahan Para sa Bansa Party List, RiChessMasters Group and CPA Phd Ariel Potot. Tournament Organizer is Solon and Neil Vincent P. Gumahad, MBA while Officiating Officials were Solon, NA Mahal B. Rosel and NA Ruben Cabading. Jan Reo Serenuela of Roaxas, Zamboanga del Norte came in second with 6 points and got P2,000 while Grace Win Dalleda of Pamplona, Negros Oriental settled for third with 5.5 points for P1,000. Rounding up to the top eight were fourth Gabriel Romarate (4 pts.), fifth Jerich Lear (3 pts.), sixth Dave Jericho Tenorio (1 pt.), seventh Marcus Edombingo (1 pt.)and eight Enrique Villanueva (1pt.). In the 12 and under category, Ranzeth Marco Magallanes of Dipolog City collected a total of 6.0 points to win the rapid tournament. Jillianne Jumalon of Dipolog City also had the same points but had to settle for the second place since Magallanes had the superior tie-break score. Dwayne Alekhine Sapuan of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental came third with 5.0 points. Magallanes, Jumalon and Sapuan receive P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000 for their efforts. Meanwhile, John Rhod Estrella and Joemel Narzabal of Dipolog City topped the junior 20-under and 16-under event. Ranzeth Marco and Princess Rane, both students of Estaka Central School, playing under the guidance of their father/trainor Ranell Magallanes II and mother/coach Sendelyn Magallanes and Principal lyn A.
