NBA -- Bulls' playoffs chase losing steam

PhilBoxing.com

CHICAGO -- Another loss. Another game further back --- seven to be exact ---- in the hunt for a berth in the post-season.

That's where the Chicago Bulls found themselves on Friday night (Saturday RP time) when the Indiana Pacers scored a 108-102 victory at the United Center.

And the Pacers notched the win despite missing two of their top three scorers in T.J. Warren (left leg) and Malcolm Brogdon (hip). Chicago, on the other hand, missed the services of leading scorer and resident star Zach LaVine, who was sidelined by a left quad injury.

The Bulls jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead after three minutes of play, but after a Nate McMillan timeout, Indiana quickly altered their pace and dominated the rest of the first half by outscoring Chicago 60-36.

The Bulls showed a lot of fight by slicing a 23 point deficit down to seven but they just couldn't go over the hump.

Coby White, who has been on an offensive tear for the past month, led the Bulls with 26 points and 6 assists. Shaq Harrison added a career-high 25 points on 5-of-6 shooting from three point land. He also added four assists, two steals and two blocks. Denzel Valentine tallied 13 points and six boards.

All-Star big, Domantas Sabonis led Indy with 24 points and 12 rebounds. With his 49th double-double of the season, Sabonis only trails Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks for most double-doubles this season.

Oladipo, who is still working his way back from his ruptured quad injury from last season, looked sharp with 16 points and 4 assists. Big man, Myles turner made his presence felt with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

With their fifth win in the past six games, Indiana moved up into a tie with Philadelphia for fifth place in the Eastern conference. With this loss, the Bulls fell to a season-worst 21 games under .500.

The Pacers will look to stay hot as they travel to Dallas to take on Luka Doncic and the Mavericks on Sunday night. The Bulls will try to bounce back on Sunday afternoon when they visit the Brooklyn Nets.
