NBA Daily: Mavericks End Lakers’ 10-Game Win Streak 114-100, as Luka Outshines LeBron

PhilBoxing.com

Boracay Island, Philippines – It may no longer be too early and too far-fetched to say that this game may have been the proverbial passing of the torch from the self-proclaimed King to whom many basketball scribes and pundits consider as the future… perhaps, the Prince, to aptly put it into context.

Luka Doncic made 16 of his game high 27 points in the third quarter alone, to lead a 28-5 surge that propelled the Dallas Mavericks to a comfortable 114-100 victory over the streaking LA Lakers on Sunday night (Monday morning, Philippine time) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The 20-year-old Slovenian shot 10-for-23 from the field, including 4 from deep, to go along with 9 boards, 10 dimes, and 3 steals. The Mavericks, who improved to 13 wins against 6 losses, buried 17 treys, while the Lakers only had 9.

Anthony Davis shared game high honors with Doncic, generating another double-double with 10 boards for Los Angeles. LeBron James added 25 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 steals, but was 0-for-5 from the rainbow territory and committed 6 turnovers for the Lakers, who dropped to a 17-3 win-loss card and had their 10-game winning streak snapped.

The Lakers will travel to Denver to face the Nuggets on Tuesday night (Wednesday morning, Philippine time).

Meanwhile, the Mavericks will be at New Orleans to face the Pelicans on the same date.

How they scored:

Mavericks 114 – Doncic 27, Wright 17, Porzingis 15, Powell 15, Jackson 15, Hadaway Jr. 8, Finney-Smith 6, Kleber 6, Curry 3, Marjanovic 2
