NBA -- Orlando survives Beal's 34-point outburst
By Victor Prejban PhilBoxing.com Tue, 19 Nov 2019
INDIANA -- Nikola Vucevic had a monster game of 30 points and 17 rebounds to help the Orlando Magic hold off a pesky Washington Wizards on Sunday at the Amway Center.
The 7-foot Vucevic also had six assists and Evan Fournier added 25 and nine assists as Orlando collected it third straight win to move up a 6-7 record, which is good for seventh place in the Eastern Conference.
Aaron Gordon turned in 13 and nine rebounds but it was the resurgence of Markelle Fultz that turned heads in the nearly sold-out arena. The former No,1 draft pick whom Orlando acquired via trade from Philadelphia last season had 19 points and a key defensive play that preserved the win.
Bradley Beal exploded for 34 points, but Washington still fell short despite scoring 44 in the final 12 minutes.
"We compete hard enough to win every game. We are top five on defense, so we know that's not the problem. We just have to get stops," Bradley lamented as Washington fell to 3-8 and 14th place in the Eastern Conference standings.
