SEN. PACQUIAO URGES ARMM POLICE TO STRONGLY SUPPORT PRES. DUTERTE'S WAR VS. ILLEGAL DRUGS

PhilBoxing.com

PARANG, Maguindanao – Sen. Manny Pacquiao boosted the morale of the police force in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao when he came over here Monday.

Brig. Gen. Marni Marcos, ARMM police regional director, invited Pacquiao as guest of honor and speaker for this month’s “Distinguished Visitor Program” of PRO-ARMM.

Marcos launched the program to lift the spirit of his men amidst the brouhaha and brickbats affecting the image of the Philippine National Police.

PNP Chief, General Oscar Alabayalde relinquished his post on Monday, weeks ahead of his retirement from the service, amid the controversy generated by his alleged involvement in a case of illegal drug recycling.

Pacquiao believes that the PNP as an organization is far from being perfect.

“Don’t be discouraged. Every organization has its own strengths and weaknesses. I am appealing to all of you to do your job with honesty and dedication,” Pacquiao stressed in his speech.

The senator from Mindanao challenged the ARMM police force to continue supporting Pres. Duterte’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.

“Pres. Duterte cannot do it alone. He needs our commitment and support to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in every nook and cranny of the country,” the lawmaker-boxer said.

It was Pacquiao’s first time to visit Parang town, formerly known as hotbed for Moro insurgency and one of the sites of fiercest battles between government troopers and Moro rebels particularly during the height of martial rule in the 70’s.

But Parang, once considered as war-torn along with Buldon, Barira and several others towns in Maguindanao, has metamorphosed into a peaceful and progressive municipality.

Thanks to the peace-loving Christian residents, Lumads, Moro leaders and rebels, including national government leaders, who, despite the overwhelming odds, continue the arduous quest for a just and long-lasting peace in Mindanao.

Obviously enamored by the town’s bucolic scenery and verdant fields, the Pinoy boxing superstar promised to visit here again, saying “Parang is beautiful. I’ll definitely go back here one day.”
