But several experts put the Clippers ahead of the Lakers. Many questioned whether the Lakers are competent to the highest of levels. * * * Ethan Strauss of The Athletic recently conducted an NBA Executive Survey and one of these bosses thinks there is a gap between the two teams. "Questions of fit and chemistry persist, and many are noting just how many games LeBron James has played up to this point. Like the Warriors, the Lakers are also lacking in perimeter defense, in a league where it seems to matter more than ever." * * * Executives are also talking themselves about the Clippers' vulnerabilities. Paul George suffered a shoulder injury and ruptures like this are unpredictable and George will be out for an unknown period. Kawhi Leonard played just 60 games for the Toronto Raptors last season. Nothing is sure about either team's showing until their actual play. The wait is not too long as the Lakers and Clippers will face each other on Opening Night. * * * George underwent two offseason shoulder surgeries. He had a partially torn tendon in the rotator cuff of his right shoulder repaired in May, and he had a tear in the labrum of his left shoulder repaired in June. Jovan Buha of The Athletic wrote that ?Paul George seems to be ahead of schedule.? For the past three weeks, George has been practicing with the Clippers and weightlifting. He has worked tirelessly on his shooting and scoring skills. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Maloney L. Samaco. |
