Christian Arroyo rules Mind Games International rapid chess championship

CHRISTIAN ARROYO of Cagayan de Oro City ruled via tiebreak the Non-Master 2100 and Below Rapid Chess Tournament dubbed as Mind Games International Rapid Chess Championship at the League One South Gate Mall in Makati City on Sunday.
Arroyo, tied for first-fourth places with Gary Legaspi of Santa Rosa, Laguna, Narciso Gumila Jr. of Pasig City and Normel Benigno De Jesus of Tumana, Santa Maria, Bulacan with 6.0 points each in the Seven Round Swiss System, 20 minutes plus five seconds delay time control event organized by Mind Games International and sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines.
With the highest tiebreak points, Arroyo took the title plus the top prize P10,000 and a trophy, Legaspi finished second and went home P6,000 and a trophy, Gumila landed at third and pocketed P4,000 and a trophy while De Jesus, chess coach of St. John Academy of Bayanihan, Inc., Bambang, Bocaue, Bulacan wound up fourth and received P3,000 for his effort.
In the seventh and final round matches saw, Arroyo halved the point with Legaspi, Gumila defeated Marlon Berenguila while De Jesus subdued Emil Chua.-Marlon Bernardino-
