GM Darwin Laylo to defend title in the Chooks to Go National Rapid Chess Championships

GRANDMASTER (GM) Darwin Laylo will defend his title at the annual 2nd Chooks to Go National Rapid Chess Championships on October 6, 2018 at the Activity Center Ayala Malls South Park in Alabang, Muntinlupa City featuring a Grand Master, GM-elect, International Master, Fide Master and National Master.

12-time Philippine Open champion Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. is seeing action along with GM elect Ronald Dableo, International Master Chito Garma, Fide Master Christopher Castellano, Fide Master Nelson "Elo" Mariano III and National Master Emmanuel Emperado.

?We are grateful that Bounty Agro Ventures Incorporated, the largest poultry integrator in the Philippines behind the brands Chooks to Go, Uling Roasters, and Reyal through BAVI president Ronald Mascarinas had expressed its utmost support to this annual chess tournament which is awaited by chess players not only in Metro Manila but also in the entire Philippines,? said Rotary Club of Nuvali president Noel Divinagracia.

Around 400 chess players from all over Metro Manila and other parts of the country are expected to participate this year's National Chess Federation of the Philippines sanctioned tournament.

The organizers Rotary Club of Nuvali and Muntinlupa City, in cooperation with Ayala Malls South Park and Philippine Executive Chess Association also put up Kiddies division (12 years old and below), Junior division (13 years old to 17 years old) and Executive division (PECA Members).

The Open champion (18 years old and above) will get P20,000 cash plus a trophy, while the 2nd place will get P10,000 and a trophy, 3rd place P7,000 and a medal, 4th place P5,000 and a medal and 5th place P3,000 and a medal.

The 6th to 10th place will receive P2,000 each plus medals.
Special awards P2,000 and medals will also be given to the Top 2000 and Below, Top 1900 and Below, Top 1800 and Below, Top Lady and Top Senior.

The champion in the Kiddies division (12 years old and below), Junior division (13 years old to 17 years old) and Executive division (PECA Members), meantime will pocketed P5,000, P7,000 and P10,000 plus trophies, respectively.

?This is one of the strongest rapid chess tournament in the country and we hope to continue it annually to help provide a venue for local chess players to train and hone their skills and, most importantly, compete with the top players in the country,? added Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) Public Relations Officer (PRO) Dr. Alfred "Fred" Paez.

The 2nd Chooks to Go National Rapid Chess Championships is a 7-round Swiss System Four Division Tournament with time control of twenty minutes (20) plus 5 seconds delay for each player for the entire game.

It is open to all players of all ages, rated or non-rated, male or female.

A registration fee of P500 (Open), P500 (Junior) P250 (Kiddies) and P1,000 (Executive, PECA members) will be required from each division.

Registration for the 2nd Chooks to Go National Rapid Chess Championships is ongoing. Deadline of Registration on October 4, 2018 and No On-site Registration.
