Peter Maniatis to be Inducted to the Australia Boxing Hall of Fame By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Tue, 30 Jan 2018 Peter Maniatis, the Australian born TV host and boxing promoter will be honored on March 3, 2018 and elevated to the Australia Boxing Hall of Fame together with former light heavyweight warrior Paul Briggs, a ex-Australian kick-boxer who later turned to pure boxing. The event will be held at the Pullman on the Park in Melbourne. Witnessing the event will be some of Australia?s boxing celebrities, notably Jeff Fenech and Kostya Tszyu. The Greek-Australian Maniatis is a former amateur boxing champion in his own right. Maniatis is also a sports journalist, logging over 15 years doing his thing at The Truth in Australia. During his tenure as a journalist he was a Victorian Multimedia Award winner for a record seven years in a row. Maniatis also dubs in boxing shows working as co-host on Radio SEN 1116 AM and Radio Ringside with Mark Fine. He is also a fine producer of radio shows. In the year 2002 he created KO Boxing Shows that broadcasted a record 500 episodes on C31 Melbourne. Some of his boxing event had been aired on Solar Sports Asia and FoxTel. Maniatis? induction to the Australia Hall of Fame is in recognition of his many years of his involvement in boxing. Maniatis started in the year 1998 linking with Sky Channel Fox , which aired his shows national in Australia As early as 2005 Maniatis has already been winning many award in boxing. He was the Victoria Promoter of the year and Russel Sands Memorial Award winner. He also won the Victorian Multi Media Award in 1999 through 2005. In 2006 he was the WBF Asia Pacific Promoter of the Year as well as the Australian Fight Promoter of the Year. Amongst Manatis? latest notable awards are WBC Asia Pacific Promoter of the Year 2012-2013 and the 2017 Gus Mercurio Australian National Boxing Hall of Fame Award. Maniatis is not new to Filipinos in the sports of boxing. He has been to the country several times and has co promoted boxing events in Cebu and GenSan. He is the current manager of Randy Petalcorin, a former WBA Light flyweight champion and a prot?g?e of the SanMan Promotions.
