CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls opened their exhibition season with a 113-109 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night at the Smoothie King Center.
The rebuilding Bulls, who lost veterans Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo during a busy off-season, had eight players score in double figures to derail the Pelicans.
Cristiano Felicio spearheaded Chicago with 15 points while Justin Holiday had 14 and four dimes. Denzel Valentine and Robin Lopez each had 12 while Jerian Grant and Kris Dunn chipped in 11 apiece. Nikola Mirotic fired three triples to finish with 14 and Paul Zipser added 10.
Chicago got the job done by shooting 50.6 percent from the field and sinking 45.7 percent of its 3s. The Bulls also grabbed 44 rebounds and dished 30 dimes.
Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins were huge for the Pelicans, scoring 24 and 20 points respectively. They also combined for 20 rebounds.
But it wasn't enough as the Pelicans only made 46.8 percent from the field and struggled from beyond the 3-point arc, swishing only 10 of 32.
